2017 marks the 10th Year of DONNA Marathon Weekend. The series has raised more than $4.5 Million towards its mission to finish breast cancer. This year, we are asking the world to Give $10 as a part of registration, fundraising efforts and more.
DONNA participants will be required to give an additional $10 with registration. 100% of these dollars will support our 10 Year Fund to meet the critical financial needs of families living with breast cancer.
Did you know over the last five years, the demand for financial support relating to medical expenses for DONNA Foundation recipients has increased more than 40%. Now nearly 75% DONNA Foundation funds are paid for medical-related bills. This means our organization is not only reliving the financial stress of the situation, but we are making necessary medical procedures possible for many women and men living with breast cancer. With this increased demand, we must raise more money to meet the need. Our goal in this anniversary year is to raise an additional $100,000 for the 10 Year Fund to allocate specifically for medical expenses of DONNA Foundation recipients. People like Michelle Morin, a breast cancer survivor and DONNA Foundation recipient who, without the DONNA Foundation, would not have been able to get the medical attention she needed.
Contributions made to The DONNA Foundation will also fund the work of the Mayo Clinic Breast Cancer Translational Genomics Research Team. This work is important, as explained by Dr. Gianrico Farrugia, CEO Mayo Clinic Florida.
