In 2006 during a routine mammogram, Patty was diagnosed with DCIS. She elected to have a lumpectomy. During her postoperative checkup another spot was found, so she immediately had a 2nd lumpectomy, followed by 6 weeks of radiation. Very quickly she got involved with 26.2 with DONNA, running the first half marathon and volunteering in 2008. She now looks forward to celebrating 10 years with 26.2 in 2017.
Together with husband Paul of 45 years, two children Cameron (Katherine) and Paula (Arthur), and four grandchildren Abigail, Logan, Josie and Stella, they enjoy Jaguars football, the family lake house and spending quality time with family and friends. According to Patty, her husband Paul “has been my rock throughout the journey – every step of the way”. As they own and operate Naugle Funeral Home she knows first-hand how blessed she is to be a survivor.
She is proud to support the 26.2 for DONNA cause. In 2014 Patty was a Brushed Bold Model and appeared as the month of August in the 2015 inaugural calendar. Today, “Lefty” hangs in St. Vincent’s Breast Cancer Treatment Center as an encouragement to others. She loves the saying “let’s finish it” and truly believes and prays that a cure will be found soon. “I never want my sister, daughter, daughter-in-law, grand daughters and/or friends to have to go down the cancer journey I have followed.”
Patty, all at TapImmune salute your courage and encouragement of others and wish you a good prognosis for the future, as we strive hard to develop new innovative treatments for breast and ovarian cancer.
