2021 Welcome from Donna
As I see our neighbors begin to decorate their yards with flags and ribbons, and buildings and bridges turning pink around the city, I’m reminded that while we may not be physically together this year, our hearts remain focused on our love for our larger community. Survivors near and far who need a reminder that they are not alone. It’s perhaps fitting that Marathon Sunday falls on Valentine’s Day at a moment in time when we need connection like never before.
The DONNA Foundation was created in 2003 to be a lifeline to families struggling financially with a breast cancer diagnosis. This year, during this most challenging time, our requests for assistance have nearly doubled. DONNA Marathon Weekend, now in its 14th year, is the primary funding source for our programs.
So, wherever you are running this year, from sea to shining sea and beyond, please know that with every step you are writing your own love letter to families in need and helping to bring us closer to a day when cancer is just a word in the medical history books.
I can’t wait for the day when I can welcome you back to our beautiful beaches communities, high five you on a race well run, and celebrate all those triumphs at the finish line. For now, just know that I am grateful from the bottom of my heart that you have chosen to run everywhere, together.
Run with love,
Donna
