The DONNA Foundation Announces Destination Marathons Partnership

Area nonprofit celebrates its 20th anniversary year with international partnership

Jacksonville, Fla. –– August 3, 2022  –– The DONNA Foundation today announced a partnership with Destination Marathons, LLC, for the 2023 DONNA Marathon Weekend (February 3-5, 2023), which culminates with The National Marathon to Finish Breast Cancer.

The partnership features a true VIP race experience offered through Destination Marathons, a travel tour company that specializes in managing all logistical details of a trip so guests can focus on the race, build friendships and create memories. Destination Marathons, based in Charlotte, North Carolina, has been creating VIP packages for runners since 2018.

Their mission perfectly aligns with this year’s theme, Destination DONNA, celebrating DONNA Marathon Weekend as a beautiful destination race that brings thousands of runners to Jacksonville from around the world — and reinforces the Foundation’s destination vision of a future without breast cancer as it celebrates its 20th anniversary year.

The race packages are open to all runners and were custom-designed with input from the Galloway organization. Jeff Galloway, a 1972 Olympian and the pioneer of the run-walk-run method, has been a supporter of The DONNA Foundation since its inception. Perks include opportunities to interact with Jeff Galloway and Galloway National Program Director Chris Twiggs; a free Galloway-designed training program with custom coaching available for an additional fee; clinics designed to improve every runner; a speaker panel with well-respected members of the running community; fun team-building activities on the beach; and a Galloway Group shake-out run to kick off the 2023 DONNA Marathon Weekend experience.

“Every year, runners from around the world journey to Jacksonville to join our celebration of survivorship. With this new partnership, that trip will be even more special for many of our participants,” said Amanda Napolitano, Executive Director of The DONNA Foundation. “Because the Destination Marathons team members are runners themselves, they have special expertise in putting together meaningful packages for runners to truly experience a race. We know Jacksonville is a wonderful destination and look forward to welcoming even more out-of-market participants to the 2023 DONNA Marathon Weekend experience. Together, we will put an end to breast cancer, and partnerships like this will only help us get to that destination faster.”

The VIP DONNA Marathon travel packages are available now at destination-marathons.com/packages/donna-galloway-package. Additionally, Destination Marathons and Visit Jacksonville will launch a giveaway sweepstakes package for two on August 3. The lucky winner will be named on November 14. Official rules are available at breastcancermarathon.com.

“Putting together race packages is what we do best,” said Mark Janik, Founder of Destination Marathons. “Partnering with a wonderful organization like The DONNA Foundation is an honor. We look forward to being part of the DONNA family and helping runners everywhere learn more about this one-of-a-kind race and all the good that it does for patients living with breast cancer and their families. We are very excited to be a part of Destination DONNA.”
